The integrity of the upright guides them,
but the crookedness of the treacherous destroys
them.
Proverbs 11:3
Do you see those who are skillful in their
work?
They will serve kings;
they will not serve common people.
Proverbs 22:29
For by the grace given to me I say to everyone
among you not to think of yourself more highly than you ought to
think, but to think with sober judgment, each according to the
measure of faith that God has assigned. For as in one body we have
many members, and not all the members have the same function, so we,
who are many, are one body in Christ, and individually we are members
one of another. We have gifts that differ according to the grace
given to us: prophecy, in proportion to faith; ministry, in
ministering; the teacher, in teaching; the exhorter, in exhortation;
the giver, in generosity; the leader, in diligence; the
compassionate, in cheerfulness.
Let love be genuine; hate what is evil, hold
fast to what is good; love one another with mutual affection; outdo
one another in showing honor. Do not lag in zeal, be ardent in
spirit, serve the Lord.
Romans 12:3-11
But we appeal to you, brothers and sisters, to
respect those who labor among you, and have charge of you in the Lord
and admonish you; esteem them very highly in love because of their
work. Be at peace among yourselves. And we urge you, beloved, to
admonish the idlers, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be
patient with all of them. See that none of you repays evil for evil,
but always seek to do good to one another and to all. Rejoice always,
pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is
the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
1 Thessalonians 5:12-18
Now we command you, beloved, in the name of our
Lord Jesus Christ, to keep away from believers who are living in
idleness and not according to the tradition that they received from
us. For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not
idle when we were with you, and we did not eat anyone's bread without
paying for it; but with toil and labor we worked night and day, so
that we might not burden any of you. This was not because we do not
have that right, but in order to give you an example to imitate. For
even when we were with you, we gave you this command: Anyone
unwilling to work should not eat. For we hear that some of you are
living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work. Now such
persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their
work quietly and to earn their own living. Brothers and sisters, do
not be weary in doing what is right.
2 Thessalonians 3:6-13
The end of all things is near; therefore be
serious and discipline yourselves for the sake of your prayers. Above
all, maintain constant love for one another, for love covers a
multitude of sins. Be hospitable to one another without complaining.
Like good stewards of the manifold grace of God, serve one another
with whatever gift each of you has received. Whoever speaks must do
so as one speaking the very words of God; whoever serves must do so
with the strength that God supplies, so that God may be glorified in
all things through Jesus Christ. To him belong the glory and the
power forever and ever. Amen.
