Ascension Lutheran Church, a presence in Franklin Square since 1923, is a member of the Metropolitan New York Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA). We believe that the Bible is the written Word of God and that the Lutheran Confessions are the true understanding of the Bible. We confess the historic ecumenical creeds: Apostles' Creed, Nicene Creed and Athanasian Creed. Holy Baptism and Holy Communion are the means of grace through which God creates and sustains faith. In Holy Communion we receive the true body and blood of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

As people of God, we are empowered by the Holy Spirit to spread Good News of salvation through Jesus Christ by sharing God's Word and providing for the administration of the sacraments according to the Gospel. We strive to witness to the world through worship, service to others, Christian fellowship and a concern for all people.
