Shepherds Abiding by Jan Karon, author of the bestselling Mitford Years novels.  This is a meditation on the best of all presents — the gift of one’s heart.  It seeks to restore the true Christmas spirit.

Horatio’s Drive — America’s First Road Trip by Dayton Duncan and Ken Burns.  This is a companion volume to the PBS documentary film about the first automobile trip across the United States.  Many photos accompany Horatio Jackson’s account of the months long trip.

Gifts of Love and Life by Helen Nazarien Pompeian.  Donated by the Longletts, this book talks about organ transplants and the Mayo Clinic.

On the weekend of the First Sunday of Advent, the fifth grade students who completed Communion Instruction received communion for the first time. These students included: Kyle Baker, Richard Copley, Robert Copley, Samantha Dickey, Payne Drewelow, Austin Fleetwood, Kelli Golinghorst, Kristyn Griesbach, Alex Hintz, Ryan Kinseth, Abigail Lamont, Grace McCammant, Alexander Nefzger, Joshua Nicholson, Trey Peterson, Brooke Shively, and Lukas Skaala.  We also had two 6th grade students who completed the class:  Shelby Lindaman and Ashley Kroeger.

The Midwinter Rally Day celebrating Jesus’ Baptismal Birthday will be Sunday January 11th.  Sunday School students and their 
parents will celebrate the Baptism of Jesus with a winter Rally Day Bash!  Crafts, games and individually decorated birthday cakes will all be on the agenda.  Parents come to Sunday School with your children on January 11 and don’t forget your camera .  .  . there will be a special photo opportunity for your child!  If you are willing to make 2 dozen cupcakes for the Baptismal Birthday Bash, please sign up on the sheets beside the youth bulletin board at the top of the stairs and have your cupcakes to the church by 8:00 a.m. on Sunday, January 11th.
