Take a Mega Mite Challenge

(Ideas are welcome and will be added to the list)

Here's the challenge, folks: Take a single dollar out of your wallet. Say a prayer that God will use that dollar to make it grow "big time' for mites. Need any suggestions--just read below!

Take a friend out for a cup of coffee, tea, or a McD's dollar menu item. Tell her about the Mega Mite Challenge and encourage her to "buddy-up" with you for mites.

Buy yarn and crochet for mites. Or teach someone else how - for a "mitey" tuition.

Pick up a note pad and postage. Write to friends encouraging them to join you in the mite challenge...10 or 25 or 50 cents per day.

Look around your pantry and cabinets for ingredients.

Bake some bread for mites. Or how about cookies! Set them out at church along with a mite box (a big one is good) and ask for contributions. Include a list of the grants.

Deliver fresh baked muffins or a single stem of flowers to a friend or shut-in. Bring a mite box along with you. When you return, bring a treat and stay for a cup of tea.

Offer your services as a calligrapher, computer artist, or a painter. All proceeds go to mites.

Buy some flower bulbs and pot them. Bring the forced flowers to church and place them where everyone can enjoy God's miracle of flowers. Set a mite box beside it.

Do some MM "millennium" house cleaning, the hold a mini indoor or outdoor yard sale for mites. Use the $1 to make flyers advertising your sale.

Buy a blank audio tape. Use your imagination! Why not tape some of your favorite children's stories for a young family in your church. Give it away--with a mite box. Get the whole family in on the Mega Mite Challenge.

Hold a silent auction for an item you have, but never used...or something you've made.

Order a large mite box, print up some flyers, and invite your congregation to make an extra special mega effort for mites. You'll be a 100% Mite Congregation!

Change your $1 into four quarters, Phone four friends and invite them to be a quarter-a-day mite giver.

Make pickles, a steaming pot of chili, or a hearty vegetable soup. Get others to join in the "cooking exchange" at an LWML meeting. Place "mitey" prices on the goods.

Get the kids in your family or church involved. Paint seashells or make clay vases and Christmas ornaments. Set up a booth. All donations go to the Mega Mite Challenge.

Footwashing for mites! Make some posters for your church, buy some scented soap or herbal bubble bath or lotion. Offer your services, as Christ did. You'll see smiles!

Rent a video. Pop some corn. Get some M&Ms. Invite friends to a "movie for mites."

Missionade?--no, it's lemonade! Open up a "missionade stand" after church and offer a tasty lemon drink, be it a hot or a cold one. All quarters go to mites.

Save old greeting cards and recycle them as gift tags. Give them with a mite box.

Do a Minute Massage for Mega Mites. Buy some scented hand lotion and do a one-minute hand massage. Say a prayer for each other. Donations go to mites.

Cupcakes for mites! Draw MM on top! Put them--and a mite box--out during a coffee hour, or deliver them to a Sunday School class along with mite boxes for all the kids.

Waste not, want not. Gather up old scrap paper and sew up or staple the pages together to create some homemade "by the phone" message pads for mites.

Pick up some seed packets. Even chives can grow on a window sill...along with mites!

Buy a single stem of flowers and bring it to a friend who needs a pick-me-up. Invite her to be your partner in mission. Bring a mite box with you. When you return, bring a another stem...or a (purple) balloon...or some M&M candies.

Host an old-fashioned sing-a-long. Print up some favorite songs and hymns (or carols) and prepare some simple eats. "Charge" a quarter/dime per person for each song you sing. Special requests cost extra.

Hold a musical concert featuring your talent. Use the $1 to print simple programs. Or convince someone in your church with musical gifts to do the same.

Who doesn't like homemade play-doh? Whip up a batch. Give it to families with small children and invite them to be a Mega Mite Box Family.
