Take a Mega Mite Challenge
(Ideas are welcome and will be added to the list)
![]()
Here's the challenge, folks: Take a single dollar out of your wallet. Say a prayer that God will use that dollar to make it grow "big time' for mites. Need any suggestions--just read below!
Take
a friend out for a cup of coffee, tea, or a McD's dollar menu item.
Tell her about the Mega Mite Challenge and encourage her to
"buddy-up" with you for mites.
Buy
yarn and crochet for mites. Or teach someone else how - for a "mitey"
tuition.
Pick
up a note pad and postage. Write to friends encouraging them to join
you in the mite challenge...10 or 25 or 50 cents per day.
Look
around your pantry and cabinets for ingredients.
Bake
some bread for mites. Or how about cookies! Set them out at church
along with a mite box (a big one is good) and ask for contributions.
Include a list of the grants.
Deliver fresh baked muffins or a single stem of flowers
to a friend or shut-in. Bring a mite box along with you. When you
return, bring a treat and stay for a cup of tea.
Offer your services as a calligrapher, computer artist, or a painter. All proceeds go to mites.
Buy
some flower bulbs and pot them. Bring the forced flowers to church
and place them where everyone can enjoy God's miracle of flowers. Set
a mite box beside it.
Do
some MM "millennium" house cleaning, the hold a mini indoor or
outdoor yard sale for mites. Use the $1 to make flyers advertising
your sale.
Buy a
blank audio tape. Use your imagination! Why not tape some of your
favorite children's stories for a young family in your church. Give
it away--with a mite box. Get the whole family in on the Mega Mite
Challenge.
Hold
a silent auction for an item you have, but never used...or something
you've made.
Order
a large mite box, print up some flyers, and invite your congregation
to make an extra special mega effort for mites. You'll be a 100% Mite
Congregation!
Change your $1 into four quarters, Phone four friends
and invite them to be a quarter-a-day mite giver.
Make
pickles, a steaming pot of chili, or a hearty vegetable soup. Get
others to join in the "cooking exchange" at an LWML meeting. Place
"mitey" prices on the goods.
Get
the kids in your family or church involved. Paint seashells or make
clay vases and Christmas ornaments. Set up a booth. All donations go
to the Mega Mite Challenge.
Footwashing for mites! Make some posters for your
church, buy some scented soap or herbal bubble bath or lotion. Offer
your services, as Christ did. You'll see smiles!
Rent
a video. Pop some corn. Get some M&Ms. Invite friends to a "movie
for mites."
Missionade?--no, it's lemonade! Open up a "missionade
stand" after church and offer a tasty lemon drink, be it a hot or a
cold one. All quarters go to mites.
Save
old greeting cards and recycle them as gift tags. Give them with a
mite box.
Do a
Minute Massage for Mega Mites. Buy some scented hand lotion and do a
one-minute hand massage. Say a prayer for each other. Donations go to
mites.
Cupcakes for mites! Draw MM on top! Put them--and a mite
box--out during a coffee hour, or deliver them to a Sunday School
class along with mite boxes for all the kids.
Waste
not, want not. Gather up old scrap paper and sew up or staple the
pages together to create some homemade "by the phone" message pads
for mites.
Pick
up some seed packets. Even chives can grow on a window sill...along
with mites!
Buy a
single stem of flowers and bring it to a friend who needs a
pick-me-up. Invite her to be your partner in mission. Bring a mite
box with you. When you return, bring a another stem...or a (purple)
balloon...or some M&M candies.
Host
an old-fashioned sing-a-long. Print up some favorite songs and hymns
(or carols) and prepare some simple eats. "Charge" a quarter/dime per
person for each song you sing. Special requests cost extra.
Play
M-I-T-E-O instead of BINGO. See the IDEA BANK Candlestick. Contact
the Queens Zone President for more information on the game, or make
it up yourself.
Speaking of Queens, check out their Angel Polaroid
Photos For Mites. Get creative!
Host
a potluck party. Place a mite box at the entrance. MmMm good!
Hold
a musical concert featuring your talent. Use the $1 to print simple
programs. Or convince someone in your church with musical gifts to do
the same.
Who
doesn't like homemade play-doh? Whip up a batch. Give it to families
with small children and invite them to be a Mega Mite Box
Family.
Come
to the next retreat - tell your MM story - Make Mites Grow!
