KELLEY BAXTER
is originally from Baltimore,
Maryland.
She attended Shepherd
University,
where she earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in vocal
performance in December 2002. After working as a retail
manager for 2 years, Kelley entered the Lutheran Theological Seminary
at Gettysburg
in the fall of 2005. During her first year she served St.
Paul's
Lutheran
Church
in Litllestown,
Pennsylvania
as a teaching parish student, under supervisor Pastor Thomas Stellhorn.
In the summer of 2006, Kelly completed a unit of Clinical Pastoral
Education at Central
Maine
Medical
Center
in Lewiston,
Maine
under supervisor Pastor Jay Turner. Kelley completed
internship at St. Mark's Lutheran
Church
in Charlotte,
North Carolina,
in 2007-2008 under supervisor Pastor Peter Brown.
While at Gettysburg Kelley served as class secretary/treasurer. for one
year and class president for two years. She was also a member of Schola
Cantorum, Seminary Choir, and Motet Choir, all under the
direction of Dr. Stephen Folkemer. Kelley has traveled around the world
during her time in seminary: to Biloxi,
Mississippi
to participate in the hurricane relief effort; to Israel,
Palestine
and Jordan
as an educational trip, and to Geneva,
Switzerland
for an ecumenical class sponsored by the World Council of
Churches and Lutheran World Federation.
Kelley Baxter accepted a call to St.
Paul Lutheran
Church.
She was ordained at St.
Paul and installed as its Pastor
July 2009.
