Text Box: community as we await Christ’s return. And then, on Christmas Eve, on December 24th, I invite to join us in worship as we celebrate again the birth of Jesus Christ, our Savior. In Christ, Pastor Jodi Text Box: MIDWEEK ADULT EDUCATION Honoring our Neighbor’s Faith will be the Tuesday evening midweek class led by Pastor Jodi. We will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday evenings beginning on January 13, 2004. This class will provide us an opportunity to learn about the faiths of others. We will touch on religions such as Judaism and Islam as well as other Christian denominations. At the first class, we will do a brief overview of Lutheran beliefs as well as plan which religions and denominations we would like to focus on in the following weeks. If you would like to participate, please sign up on Pastor Jodi’s door. ADULT SUNDAY SCHOOL At the national assembly of the ELCA in 2005, our denomination is scheduled to once again address the issue of homosexuality and the church. The ELCA has produced a study book along with a background essay on the Biblical passages which address this issue. This study will be discussed during the adult Sunday School forum led by both Pastors Dan and Jodi beginning January 18th . In the meantime, copies of this study are available in the church office for you to read before hand. At the back of the study book is a response form for you to fill out and express your views to the ELCA. Although we encourage you to attend the Sunday School sessions before you fill out the response form, you are not required to do so. It is very important that our national church hear from you before they make this very important decision. Text Box: Social Ministry Committee The next meeting of the Social Ministry Committee will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2004 at 6:45 p.m. At this meeting we will be talking about what social ministry is and discuss ways that we here at Faith can be involved in this type of ministry. If you are unsure what Social Ministry is, this is a great opportunity for you. Everyone is welcome at this meeting, even if you are unsure as to whether you wish to join the committee. Your input at this meeting will help to shape the future work of this committee and thereby the ministry of this congregation. Please join us! If you have any questions, please speak with Pastor Jodi.
