Text Box: LUTHERAN SOCIAL SERVICES NEWS

On behalf of Lutheran Services of Iowa I would encourage you to remember this great organization in your holiday giving. 75% of LSI’s income comes from public entities. Cutbacks in public funding mean continued cutbacks in needed human services.

The family and children services offered range from Foster care and adoption, mental health & substance abuse services to senior adult services and a long list of others. The needs of hurting children, youth and families is apparent everyday as we listen to the news, read the paper and our own personal involvement with friends and family. Please call me if I can give you more information on LSI or connect you with one of the Pastors or workers. Thank you Donna Knapper
Text Box: FIRST FRUITS WEEKEND
December 13 & 14
Text Box: First Fruits Weekend will be an opportunity to begin our giving to the
Forward With Faith Campaign. These gifts will establish the momentum necessary to reach our goal. You should have received a special offering envelope in the mail. Also, envelopes will be available in the pews.

For our First Fruits gifts we are asking if it would be possible to give 10% of your 3-year pledge for your first gift.

Did you miss the Commitment Service?
At the services on November 22nd and 23rd, the congregation was given an opportunity to make a financial commitment to the 2004 Operating Budget and a three year commitment to the Forward With Faith Campaign. If you haven’t completed and returned your commitment card by December 7th, phone calls will be made to encourage you to prayerfully consider making a financial commitment to the campaign.

Commitment cards are available in the narthex or you can use the one printed in the Forward With Faith Newsletter #4.
Text Box: A HAT AND MITTEN TREE sponsored by the Sunday School students for children and adults that don’t have warm accessories for the winter will be set up in the library area of the church. Please place new mittens, hats and scarves on the mitten tree in the library area. These items will be given out in the Christmas baskets by the North Scott Food Pantry. Please bring the hats and mittens to the church by December 15.
